UK-Based Hedge Fund Elan Considering Expansion to Greece

Bloomberg reports[1] that United Kingdom-HQed Knightsbridge-based Elan Capital Management is currently in discussions with the local Greek financial regulator about expanding to Greece[2].

This is against the backdrop of the potential introduction of a new swathe of taxes[3] in the coming UK Budget[4] under the new Labour administration under Andy Burnham and John Healey as the current Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Billionaire British hedge fund manager Chris Rokos announced his departure earlier on in the week, with the end destination being Greece[5]. The Times of London reported[6] that it was due to his concerns over a potential “exit tax” that would be levied on departing tax residents.
