Bloomberg reports[1] that US-headquartered, Chicago-based Balyasny Asset Management intends to open a new office in Zug, complementing its existing presence in Switzerland via its Geneva office.

Balyasny has in recent years increased its focus on the European side of physical commodities and power trading[2].

The expansion draws on Zug’s strength as a global commodities trading hub[3], alongside inter-cantonal tax competition and the strategic opening of “front office”-facing locations as a hiring incentive[4] from a personal income tax rate perspective.
